Canadian sculptor Simon Morris is the creator of the "Guardian of the Reef" bronze statue placed underwater in Grand Cayman in April 2014. The 13' tall statue will raise awareness of the fragile nature of the marine environment in Grand Cayman and around the world.
The Guardian is a limited edition of just four castings, all destined to be placed underwater in carefully chosen locations in the world's oceans. The second casting will be placed by California Ships to Reefs near San Diego in spring/summer 2015.
Simon has previously placed two other bronze statues underwater - the well-known bronze mermaids "The Emerald Princess" in Powell River, British Columbia and "Amphitrite" at
Sunset Reef, Grand Cayman.
